I have received several emails from loyal readers wondering how I am feeling, so I figured the least I could do was post an update. My motivation is still in high form...but the rest of me is feeling pretty lousy. On top of the bronchitis I was diagnosed with earlier this week I have come down with a really nasty sinus infection. (YUCK!) Both L and the doctor have ordered me to bed.

L should be nominated for "Husband of the Year" after he stayed home from work to care for the Whohead and myself. It's funny because a girlfriend and I were complaining a couple of weeks ago that stay-at-home moms don't get sick days. Guess he proved me wrong!

Actually the progress I made on the kitchen today wasn't what was painful. I fell down the stairs this morning. I managed to wrench my neck (I think I counted it crack 5 times...OUCH!) slammed my shoulder in to the wall, banged up both my shins (one has a giant goose egg on the front of it) and pulled the tendon in the top of my left ankle. Needless to say I didn't really think I would get much done on the kitchen. It was early evening before I quit hurting enough to even think about getting back to work. The up side is my motivation didn't collapse and I actually did get some work done.

I have kept a guestbook on this site for people who want to make comments about the site as a whole or leave messages for L or myself that didn't pertain to a specific blog entry. Unfortunately the spammers have discovered my guestbook .

I have taken pretty aggressive anti-spam precautions on the comment sections of the blog but have been unsuccessful in linking the guestbook to the anti-spam coding for the rest of the site. What this means is that I may get one or two pieces of spam a month that wind up in my filter for entry comments...but I'm getting on average 25 - 35 spam entries a day in my guestbook and they don't go through a filter. Now the book doesn't get used by many people...but for my friends who are less than adept at computers, it was a great place for them to post because they didn't have to worry about captchas (the letter codes required to post to entries). The time has come for me to disable my guestbook

That's right folks...today is my Birthday. Unlike dear Kristin over at 1902 Victorian I will not be announcing to the world how old I am. I will tell you however, that this isn't the first, or even second anniversary of my 29th Birthday. I'm sure somewhere it is a matter of public record. But not HERE!

I can only imagine what life would have been like when this house was built in 1929. I know it was a simpler time and people enjoyed simpler things. Things like talking to your neighbor over your back fence as you hang laundry out to dry. Or sitting on the front porch enjoying tea and lemonade, watching the neighborhood kids play tag up and down all the front yards on the street. Things that we never seem to have time for in 2005...but I've discovered we should.
